01. Synopsis.

The television show recounts the career of Dr. Max Goodwin as he ascends to the position of director at one of America's first hospitals, the New Amsterdam, which was modeled after Bellevue Hospital in New York. He wants to eliminate bureaucracy from underutilized facilities in order to provide his patients with outstanding care. But, he will have to engage in a number of battles given that he must both win back his pregnant wife, from whom he is estranged, and beat the disease that is slowly killing him every day.
